Asthma

1 in 8 children and 1 in 13 adults suffer with asthma. An estimated 8 million people in the UK have been diagnosed with asthma at some stage in their lives. This is an average of 1 in 7 of the UK population.
At Profile we are committed to developing new breakthroughs in aerosol drug delivery. We have offered innovative products and services for over 25 years.

COPD

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which encompasses both chronic bronchitis and emphysema, is one of the commonest respiratory conditions of adults in the developed world. The exact prevalence of COPD is difficult to determine because of problems with definition. Sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between COPD and chronic severe asthma, and patients with mild to moderate disease may not be identified as suffering from COPD.

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease which affects vital organs in the body, especially the lungs and pancreas, by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus. It is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease and affects over 7000 babies, children and young adults in the UK.

Home Ventilation

Whilst some patients can be weaned from mechanical ventilation after a few days in the intensive care department, patients with other conditions cannot or should not be taken off the ventilator.

Patients with stable long term chronic medical conditions are more likely to require long-term mechanical ventilation, for example, patients with neuromuscular or chest wall deformities.
Patients who benefit from long-term mechanical ventilation are those with medical conditions that would become unstable if they were removed from mechanical ventilation.

Sleep Therapy

Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), the most common form of apnoea, occurs when tissues in the upper throat collapse at intervals during sleep, thereby blocking the passage of air. People with obstructive sleep apnoea stop breathing sometimes hundreds of time during the night usually for periods of 10 seconds or longer. Apnoea decreases the amount of oxygen in the blood, and eventually this lack of oxygen triggers the lungs to suck in air; at this point, the patient may make a gasping or snorting sound but does not usually fully wake up.

Porta-Neb®
Porta-Neb Sidestream system is the perfect option for home and hospital use when nebulizing bronchodilator (reliever) treatments.
Easy and convenient to use, the Porta-Neb Sidestream system delivers fast, accurate drug delivery every time. Durable and easy to clean, the Porta-Neb Sidestream system comes with all the accessories and easy-to-follow instructions needed for high quality nebulizer therapy.

Freeway Freedom
Freeway Freedom is the new compact and truly portable travel compressor nebulizer system, designed by patients for patients who want greater independence. Optional re-charging from car cigarette lighter (12 volt DC output) or mains (UK or worldwide).
For reliable delivery of medication whenever and wherever it is needed.

Sidestream®
Sidestream has been developed as a result of considerable research into aerosol therapy.
By radical changes to conventional nebulizer design, Sidestream keeps the driving air and the liquid drug separate within the chamber. This helps prevent the nebulizer jets wearing resulting in repeatable high quality drug delivery.
Sidestream can nebulize all commonly prescribed bronchodilators (relievers) for respiratory conditions.

Ventstream®
Ventstream has been designed for effective and efficient delivery of inhaled antibiotics and steroids, in addition to relievers.
Using an "active" venturi in its design, the Ventstream responds to the patient's breathing pattern, providing drug during inspiration and minimising drug wastage during expiration..

BiPAP®

For appropriate COPD patients, the BiPAP S/T Ventilatory Support System provides comfortable, mask-applied, noninvasive ventilation in the privacy of their home. Auto Trak Sensitivity™ means the BiPAP S/T adjusts IPAP and EPAP to more closely match the patient's natural breathing patterns. The BiPAP S/T requires no manual sensitivity adjustment and maintains pressure in the event of most leaks, which makes it as adaptable to your patient's lifestyle as it is to their breathing rhythms.
